  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup (for icing)
  • 12 Tbsp milk or cream (for icing, as needed)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional, for icing)
  • Flaky sea salt or chopped toasted pecans, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, sea salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in maple syrup.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract until combined. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
