  • 1 box white cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • Water (as per cake mix instructions)
  • Vegetable oil (as per cake mix instructions)
  • Egg whites (as per cake mix instructions)
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 1 container white frosting (12 oz)
  • Optional: Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the cake mix box directions and prepare a 12-cup bundt pan by greasing and flouring it.
  2. Prepare the cake batter as indicated on the box using water, vegetable oil, and egg whites. Divide 1 cup of batter into two small bowls; add red food coloring to one and blue food coloring to the other.
  3. Pour the red batter into the bottom of the bundt pan followed by the white batter and then the blue batter without mixing them.
  4. Bake according to package directions until a toothpick comes out clean; cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  5. Once cooled, divide frosting into three bowls and microwave each separately until drizzling consistency is achieved. Decorate with frosting in layers and top with optional sprinkles.
