  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook 3/4 pound of extra lean ground beef with 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 chopped medium yellow onion for about 10 minutes until browned. Drain excess liquid.
  2. Stir in 1 can (15-ounce) chopped stewed tomatoes, 1 cup beef broth, 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and cover; let simmer for one hour while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add 1 can (15-ounce) rinsed and drained pinto beans and 1/2 teaspoon salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
