Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts (for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt together.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture until well combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat each in finely chopped hazelnuts before placing them on prepared baking sheets.
  6. Create indentations in the center of each cookie with your thumb or a spoon.
  7. Bake for approximately 12-14 minutes; cookies should be set but not hard.
  8. While warm, re-press indentations and fill each with about a teaspoon of chocolate hazelnut spread.
  9. Allow cooling before serving.
